Terry has over 40 years in business development, construction and real-estate both in Alberta and British Columbia. He has always had companion animals in his life. In the fall of 2009 the Barrhead Animal Rescue Society, now known as BARS was established, which has been a great success and a blessing for all involved.
The Barrhead Animal Rescue Society (BARS) was established in January 2010, and is dedicated to ensuring the humane treatment of all animals in the Town of Barrhead, the County of Barrhead and surrounding areas.
We provide a safe and nurturing environment for unwanted, abandoned, lost, and mistreated pets until they can be placed into loving homes. Through proactive intervention, public education, fundraising events, and community outreach, the Barrhead Animal Rescue Society seeks to promote respect for all life by breaking the cycle of abuse, neglect, and pet overpopulation in our communities.
Our adoptable animals come to us from many different situations. We accept owner surrendered animals, stray pets, and animals that are transferred to us through the A.S.P.C.A and/or R.C.M.P. We additionally accept animals who have overstayed their welcome at local pounds. Where possible, we will always disclose the origin and known history of an adoptable animal in our care to interested families however, in many situations, full history on animals in our care may not be known.
The Barrhead Animal Rescue Society is supported through private contributions.
